W Juliet Mini Review (manga)

Take Hana-Kimi, swap the girl-in-a-boys-school with a boy-in-a-girls-school, and voila! More shoujo manga. Although this is a decent comic, its little episodes of “Keep the student body from finding his secret!” and “They’re in love–though she looks like a boy and he looks like a girl!” are fairly unexciting in the waves of gender-confusion shoujo already on the market. I think this is going to end up being the Hana-Kimi for a less fangirly and more conservative readership. (By the way, the title is an insufficient translation of a Japanese pun that means “Double Juliet.”)
Initial impression: Worth a try if you need a gender-bender. (Lianne)
