Pearl Pink Mini Review (manga)

I want YOU…to watch me do a backflip in Korean skater wear.

PG-13 for romantic hijinks, some sexual referencing, and a bit of language, if memory serves; official series website

I’m not going to relay the premise of this manga, so don’t ask.* If you have any interest in a shoujo love/relationship/family story that’s sweet, funny, entertaining, and even a bit sexy, buy this. You’ll like it. It’s a bit too sophisticated for really young fans - there are mentions of porn and sex, although they’re mild - but teenagers and anyone older will probably find it charming without being too sophisticated or too childish. This is a good, well-rounded title with a broad appeal, which I wasn’t expecting based on the generic cutesy covers and the completely nondescript title. The script is also done by Jamie Rich, so it rocks hard.

Initial impression: A good relationship shoujo. In the slew of relationship shoujo releases that have been coming out lately, this is pretty much at the top. (Lianne)

*=…because it’s about the daughter of a pop idol crime fighter on TV and the makeover-obsessed son of the idol’s manager goofing off with a monkey. And there’s a boy band. See, now you don’t want to read it! I told you. Leave this page, forget what I said, and just buy the damn manga. It’s not my fault shoujo gems have crappy premises.
