Yes. I clearly only watched the first episode and am judging the series based on its looks and theme. All that discussion of the second half of the first season, the finale, and the beginning of the second season were based off a series I made up in my head.

Wow. This review and the comments are nothing but over-religious psychopaths who only watched the 1st epsiode and judged it based on how the characters look. This show is hemorotic, I do admit, but this show is quite interesting. It makes me wonder if there are kids like Ciel in the world. Sebastian is quite the looker, I do admit, but he’s also spectacular and outstanding. I wonder how all the people in London haven’t had their supisions about Phantomhive though. Black Butler II was better than the 1st, but it took a turn for the retarded. I loved The Triplets, but I ABSOLUTELY HATED Alois Trancy and his maid, Hannah. I loved even more Alois’s butler Claude Faustus. Point i’m making, is to NOT judge it on looks and theme, and watch it and give it a proper review, not one for over religious retards who loved Sailor Moon, but can decide to put a torch to another fave on my list…

Hey, well I found this review disconcerting. I totally acknowledge that there are some more disturbing things in the anime than there are the manga. The humor in the anime is a bit dark, a bit twisted, and definitely harder to follow. But if you know anything of the author, you know that she intended for the scenes with the homosexual/”pedophilia” undertones you speak of to poke fun at the assumptions that viewers tend to make about the kind of relationship Sebastian and Ciel have. I know that this a strictly anime based review, but I honestly don’t think that anyone will ever understand the anime without first reading, or at least having knowledge of the actual goings-on in the manga.
Although, I disagree when it comes to the lines that it crosses as far as religion goes. Obviously this is set to the Judeo-Christian theology as well as popular theology(ies) from Japanese culture. I don’t think that readers will face any sort of internal struggle with the series, being an agnostic theist myself, unless they allow it too much space in their mind.

Personally, the anime is a train wreck, but it has its moments. I wouldn’t recommend watching it without prior knowledge of the series and it’s true premise.

I had to delete it because of derogatory language, but to address dong prong's complaint that this review is tainted by homophobia and a bias against pedophilia undertones (again, I don't see why you guys think being anti-pedophilia is something to be ashamed of): Here are two BL series I really liked: Cornered Mouse and S Here's a different anime with STRONGER male/male pedophilia undertones than Black Butler that I really liked: Loveless I don't inherently have anything against those themes in a story, I just think Black Butler is doing it wrong.

Well, this review is quite disapointing, as well as the majority of the comments.

Anyways…..
I LOVE this anime, and the manga! the manga is better and there is more comedy in it, but I stll realy like the anime. I enjoy the story, very interesting. Lets me also say that the art is amazing and the colour palet is well chosen

but i guess if you are the faint of heart or 13 years old then This is probably noy 4 u…
any ways the Otaku USA magazine gave a good review and rating that I agree with… don’y know whats up wit this one

Ok hear me ou. I loved this anime, form the firt episode of season one to the last of the second. I no this is sad but i watched both season in 4 days wh(which i never done even for naruto). Its funny and terrifing and its aguably my favorite anime. Although is biggest falw it how much they rushed the series. The could have dragged it out so much more. I will say it has a slow start but once u get into it u really get into it. It is argualby my favorite anime so watch it. 4 1/2 stars

I completely agree with everything you said. The BL is disturbing considering Ciel’s age, but once the first few episodes of fluff are over I found the series quite enjoyable.
