How could anybody else have brought up the "Brooklyn accent"? It doesn't exist. Her accent is a southern drawl. Why you suggest otherwise is beyond me.

both KAA and EnterTheBlog have released superior versions to the ADV release. the osaka/chiyo-chan issue never mattered to me as the english dub is fairly atrocious and loses very much in translation. azumanga has always been at the top of my 'slice of life' genre and it'll take something truly amazing to knock it off that spot.

I greatly enjoy this anime. As you know, I read one volume of the manga, and loved it. Osaka is the greatest character ever . . . I can relate to her because we both daydream way too much.

I guess you have a point about the repetitiveness, and times when the characters really aren't doing much. Like at the beginning when they randomly showed a clip of Chiyo-chan cooking something and singing, I was thinking, "Hmm, where did that come from . . ." On a positive note, it was a fun anime to watch with my "little sister" (not really related to me) who is 7 years old. She did not understand the slightly older jokes, so we both had fun.

Osaka-sama really summed up the main points and praises to Azumanga Daioh. I wish to second her opinions.

I actually like the Osaka jokes. And it DOES get better later. I think it fits Osaka's character, of being a bit "spacey" and "odd." Of course, the Japanese anime won't be like the Simpsons, which tries to hard to be a laugh-a-minute thing. I love how it draws out the joke, and delivers the punchline, or gives a quick, witty one-liner. Almost none of the jokes in the anime didn't get a laugh. It has a strong, memorable cast, which deserves more than 26 episodes. I've seen a LOT of anime, and I'd say this is up there with Code: Geass, Lelouch of the Rebellion. It's absolutely AMAZING!
